In Memoriam by Eskiworks

In Memoriam

Eskiworks

In memoriam to those lost on 9/11, and to those lost at Columbine in 1999. Two tall tree to symbolize the twin towers, and 13 columbine blossoms, one for each victim at Columbine High. Our loved ones are still with us as long as we remember them...

I've been working on this piece for a while now, a large acrylic commission for Nevermint. I had a lot of setbacks, both technically and schedule wise that made this one take a lot longer than I planned. This was also a really emotional piece for me to paint. I am not afraid to admit I cried on and off during it's creation. I hope I did the concept justice!

11" X 14" acrylic on Illustration board

I am currently open for commissions, both traditional and digital. Check out my journal for more info - https://www.weasyl.com/journal/12338

    Concept executed perfectly, if you were to ask me.

    I didn't realize the subject matter's context. How poignant. I think this turned out beautifully, despite the difficulties inherent to its creation.

      Thank you! Yeah, it was a pretty hardcore struggle, but I learned a lot making it too.

      Herpaderp, I did not reply to the correct thing and accidentally posted a fresh comment. XD Thank you! I think I am passing it off to it's owner Sunday, but if there is a delay maybe there is a chance to see it in person. :3

        Unfortunately I leave for Greece Tuesday, so unless you are dropping by my house before then... Anyhow, hope he loves it, it is beautiful.

    This is really quite a moving piece, even before i read its context.

    So very beautiful and poignant. ;_;

    Quite a stirring piece. Beautifully executed, I find myself moved to tears after reading it's context. Knowing loss is to know love. Even for those you haven't met, you can feel compassion for their families and loved ones.

      Aw, thank you! It's wonderful that it moved you so, the concept did the same for me while painting it.

    I am as moved as the rest of the folk commenting on this piece. Definitely feeling sappy after reading the context of why the piece was commissioned and had to wipe away some misty eyes before commenting. This is wonderfully executed and you can tell that you took your time and put as much thought into this piece as you do with your digital work. Very inspiring, as usual, and an illustration that will stand out to me in your gallery of works. <3
