The Autumn Sea by Eskiworks

The Autumn Sea

Eskiworks

A large full illustration commission for Reuxlette, of her gloriously tailed character enjoying a chill clear autumn day! I took a bit more of a direct painting approach for a lot of this, relying less on layers set to multiply and overlay to get my desired colors. You can see a WIP walk-through in my tumblr here - http://eskiworks.tumblr.com/post/44645183874

I like what your digital painting has become in the more recent years.

Woooow this is so gorgeous~ The colors, and the amount of detail you put into everything is always so admirable!

Just beautiful, I love how you worked out the blue/autumn red contrast, so hard to get looking right and not brazen or patriotic. Stunning...

Thank you so much! It was fun to figure out a color scheme that would work well, adding some purples in there really brought the color scheme into something manageable I think.

I agree I think that helped a lot! I have a red and silver dragon with gold hints on a blue bkgrnd that I am going to be working on soon and am struggling with internal color schemes (soon to be external color studies that I actually make) to make sure that it works ><

Hehe, I can't speak for any um, time/space faring object you may or may not see in the above picture!

I do have to make the time to watch yoru streams more often so I can feed on your brain meats See how these techniques work. As it is I am so under prepared for any sort of color.

Aw, why thank you, haha! I post a lot about it in my tumblr when I finish a piece, to give an overall idea of how I do it and whatnot.

Absolutely gorgeous, from the colours and post of the character to the mountains and leaves in the background.

Autumn is my favorite season :3

Aw, why thank you! Autumn really is wonderful, the transitional seasons feel great.

I would absolutely love to see an HD version of this; I'm extremely interested in how you got such a smooth, painted look. The background is phenomenal

One of your best pieces. And I always loved Reuxlette's works too. I wish I could find where she's most active. I'll just have to keep looking.

Aw thanks! Yeah, I love her work too, and her character is just AWESOME looking.

Your backgrounds and compositions have just gotten more and more amazing, I've seen your work grow from the colored pencil days of DA (around 03' or so) to your transition into digital and you have taken to it like water. I think you've found your niche, I don't mean that as flattery as I am very biased being partial to traditional media myself ;)
