Rhythm of the Heat by Eskiworks

Rhythm of the Heat

Eskiworks

Commission finished a couple days ago for Kikivuli and Utunu! This is a follow up piece for the other large illustration I did for them, “The Final Moments” - https://www.weasyl.com/submission/37586

After a successful hunt and a fulfilling meal, the pair settle down around a warm fire and break out their favorite instruments for a fireside story. Retelling the day’s exploits through each note played, the fire before them wreathing into pictoglyph representations of the action. Their flame selves chase the gemsbok across the path of the milky way as the high spirited song plays!

Oh hey, I get to follow you here now too :3

Also a FANTASTIC job on the painted dogs. I always enjoy seeing them portrayed as anthros, and you did a wonderful job of it!

Your starscape backgrounds never cease to amaze me, man. How do you have the patience to place so many little stars and details (。_゜) I really like all the little details in this one too, like the bowl and the bone and the antlers laying around nearby. The lighting is just amazing. ;w; This one is my new favorite, I think, haha.

        • Link

Thank you! Those details were mostly Utunu and Kikivuli's ideas, to set the scene. =3

    Wow really amazing :D

Your way to draw fire and light is great as always <333

And the way the fire and the signs (?) are connected~

You can really see the action in these two characters~ Like they play their instruments :D

Thank you again! =D I LOVE painting fire lit scenes so much.

      • Link

        You're still very welcome :D

This is absolutely stunning. I love the lighting and the movement in this piece. Also that starry sky is just awesome...

    • Link

Thank you so much! Hopefully the stars are nice, but don't detract from the fire or characters. A sky devoid of light pollution is REALLY stunning in real life, can can easily outshine just about anything underneath it's canopy.

My eye is actually drawn to the warmer colors and follows the path of the fire, and I don't personally think it takes away from the characters at all, instead it just adds to the whole atmosphere. I'm a big star and space fanatic, which is probably why I noticed it as much a I did.
