Gender Reveal Party by EmoDog

Gender Reveal Party

EmoDog

Fitting that it is June 1st and Preserves Volume 2 premiered earlier this week! So here's my submission for this year and a piece fitting for Pride Month!

Preserves is a zine that was created by a good friend of mine, of DePaul University LGBTQIA+ Students' creative works. Anyone was able to submit anything, so long as it could be printed and put into a PDF, no theme and it did not have to LGBTQIA+ related, you just have to be a LGBTQIA+ student.

For this volume, I decided to follow what I did last year and draw myself/my persona EmoKiddio again to see my art improve and representation of people like myself. I had lots of different ideas I wanted to do for this year, but what struck me was this idea and I ended up putting so much effort and detail into this that I'm truly proud of the results. I was inspired by a multitude of things, was feeling a multitude of things in terms of gender and myself, represent my gender (GenderFluid) and point out all the genders I fluctuate with, and was poking fun at gender reveal/baby shower parties (cutting a cake open to spill out gender colored m&m's and this hilarious image) and inspired by taking pictures of myself at baby showers/gender reveals with items that say "It's a boy!/girl! or Girl/Boy" with cupcakes, ribbons, cakes, etc. All of that ended up in this and wildly experimenting! I also actually own that shirt and I always love to wear it so I got to draw that here too!
