See, I'd make comments about how his hyper-controlling nature makes him a terrible friend and a horrid potential partner, and that Gwen, bless her heart, is suffering from something similar to Stockholm Syndrome having to deal with his overbearing dickfacedness.
But yknow, they're fictional characters, and their relationship doesn't even come CLOSE to being as stupid as some real life relationships I could name. :I

I speculate that Jake suffers from "Mommy Issues" because from what Airu told me, his mother died when he was younger. His dad was pretty hard on him, and the girlfriends that he DID have didn't stick around for long, or were just huge c*nts. So when a nice girl..who feeds him, and gives him attention to some of his needs, methinks he's reluctant to let that go.

She could stop talking to him at any time, but she chooses to stick around him. Maybe she sees something in him that someone else doesn't see, or doesn't have the patience to find..maybe she pities him, or maybe it's some kind of coping mechanism she uses to deal with the trauma of her previous relationship.

Either way that goes, credit should be heaped upon you and Airu for making some very complicated and human characters out of fictional foodogs.
At this point, their relationship is like a train wreck to me. I know for sure someone's gonna get hurt or killed, but I can't stop myself from staring D:

This probably isn't true, but from what I've observed, Jake doesn't seem to care about Gwen much beyond making sure no one besides him screws her.
