Sorry if the blood/gore is a bit much for some.
I draw Jinbe so much you'd think he was my only favorite character in One Piece. He's just the the most fun to draw. I have been doodling Luffy in my sketch book though, I think making these fan arts are helping me find a drawing style for humans that I can draw naturally. I need to draw humans more!
These are sketches of what I think Jinbe's scar might look like after the battle at Marineford. Luffy's scar gets all the focus because of the fact he's the main character, that it was on top of a mountain of other injuries and trauma he received during the story arch, and the conclusion of the war and the effect it had on him (being non specific just in case it's still a spoiler for some people?), but I really wish Oda would show us Jinbe's scar. I mean, the only reason Luffy has that scar at all is because the attack went THROUGH Jinbe. How is Jinbe even alive? Looking at where he was hit, had to have lost several ribs, parts of his guts, and probably even part of his right lung. How does an injury like that even heal? It has to be like a crater. Either way, the sun on his chest isn’t the only star burst on his body anymore.
Looking at these again, I can see where I could have drawn him better, but considering these were supposed to be fast sketches and I didn't use any actual human reference, I'm happy with them. I tried to draw him muscular/built but also fat at the same time.

I had trouble judging exactly where in his midsection he was hit, I could be off by a little. I used the anime scene as reference and I think it changes location and size a little bit, but the thing that stayed the same was that it was bellow and to the side of his Sun Pirates branding, so I went by that. I probably should have used the manga as reference instead! It's possible he got hit lower in his stomach/abdomine area.
And I also wonder if fishman internal anatomy is different from humans. I wonder, if since he also has gills in addition to his lungs, perhaps his lungs are placed higher in his chest? So maybe he didn't loose part of his lung afterall.
It really was a rollercoaster! But I really enjoyed it. I'm kind of a sucker for heartache! And I was also glad they had the Fishman Island arc afterwards, too. I was glad to see Jinbe again and learn more about him and fishman history.
You noticed I drew his hair down! :D Haha, glad you liked that. He's one of my top favs too!

Maybe fishmen have a different structure when it comes to the inside of the body O:?? I've thought about the same thing though I pictured his scar in another area. None the less xD I gotta say the whole Marineford arc was an emotional roller coaster and I'm glad they did the fishman island as the arc right after. Also like how you did his hair down, he is for sure one of my favorite characters in One Piece.
