It's been a very long time since a modern horror film actually made me feel on edge. Krampus was great but it was that creepy fun kind of horror you'd get from Gremlins.

The Babadook, a film I've only seen as internet screamer pop ups around the year it first came out was something I had been meaning to watch for quite some time now but would end up forgetting about it, me thinking "Its just gonna be like every other modern horror film with sex, gore porn and jump scares."

I had NO IDEA it was actually a psychological horror, my favorite type of horror, so I decided to finally give it a try and my God did this freaky as fuck movie get to me. ._.
Making the titular character a symbolism of the grieving mother's spiral from the trauma of losing her husband and having a psychotic son to raise all by herself while keeping an eerie atmosphere along with a fantastic soundtrack had immediately made this film land in my top 20 favorite movies ever list!

Like mentioned, I've seen Mr. Babadook's appearance long before and didn't really care for his design but actually seeing him in actions and, fuck me, his VOICE made me absolutely adore the living shit outta him!!
He's got that uncanny valley monster vibe that I can't get enough of and he's open to so many interpretations for viewers, he's just one of the most appealing monsters I've seen in movies yet. Just me doodling this scary bastard is a thrill!
And I couldn't forget about the children's pop-up storybook, the art style is immensely inspirational and who doesn't enjoy pop-up books?

Aside from me gushing about this film, this drawing I made here is a crossover with my two fursonas Garth and Gertrude.
What really surprised me was that while watching, I noticed the plot sounded a lot like the backgrounds I've been writing about these two 0-0
Tall, dark and aggressive entity and an innocent bystander just trying to live life peacefully while trying to prevent the demons caused by the entity from drowning them.
This particular scene occurs when the mother Amelia reads a book her son Samuel presents to her telling the tale of how once you take noticed the existence of The Babadook, he'll stop at nothing to torture you.

I'm pretty proud of the LET ME IN! word bubble I drew on here. Used the airbrush tool to give it a slight glow effect.
