Sea Dorey by Doran Eirok

Sea Dorey

Doran Eirok

(April 2012) A random conversation with my friend Sildra a couple nights previously somehow wound up on the subject of an alternate form for myself as a water dragon. Given my long and good friendships with water dragons Kyrik and Kurra I've always had a strong appreciation for the wet and finny, so it was fun to think up what a Dorey might look like in such a form.

While the overall blue colour remains the same, the underside has become white, and my feathered mane has been replaced with a finny crest and a splash of white down the back as well. I've always thought the contrast of darker paws was a neat look, so I decided to go with that here, the better to show off those big cute toe webs. A nice big tail fin is of course a must, and Sildra had the cute idea of replacing my little fluffy goatee with a chin-fin. For optimal hydrodynamics I figure the whole body would switch my usual scales for a smooth, shiny, streamlined hide. All fins including ears and chin possess variable geometry for optimal manoeuvrability and emotional expressiveness.

And just because I couldn't resist the Finding Nemo reference, Dorey here is regarding a small, curious Pacific blue tang with amusement.
