Plush Dorey by Doran Eirok

Plush Dorey

Doran Eirok

(2011) Behold, myself as a cute little dragon plushie.

Plushies are cute and cuddly, and the idea of being an animated one, existing more or less entirely for the purpose of being hugged and loved, holds some appeal for me. It seems appropriate to my overall personality too.

I figure a plush version of myself would be made from a very soft blue leather rather than fabric in order to more closely simulate the feel of dragon hide, hence the bit of shine. The tongue is pink satin, the eyes are little faceted green gems, though still have pupils somehow. We'll just call it magic as long as I'm being an animated plush toy anyway. The floof is of course floofy, and the paws have little black leather pads because this is me we're talking about, and pawpads are a given. Also there would totally be a squeaker inside somewhere.

The idea of a Doreyplush has appealed to me for a while, but I blame this cuteness by stormdragonblue for giving me the inspiration and push to finally draw it.

Ah yes, living/animate plushies are periodically curious. Except for me I just find the idea of something conscious and moving when it feasibly shouldn't be able to weirdly interesting. All how do you exist sorta thing.

The leather texture is really well done.

Hehe, yeah, it's true. There isn't any scientifically plausible way they could actually work, short of having a robot skeleton buried inside perhaps. But that would impede cuddliness factor and squidginess. Mostly it's a place where I'm content to just shrug and go, "I dunno, magic?" and not worry too much about it. ;)

Thanks though! Shiny leathery textures are always a lot of fun to draw. ^^
