Overseas Highway by Doran Eirok

Overseas Highway

Doran Eirok

(2010) As I've grown up, I've been fortunate enough to make occasional visits to the Florida Keys to go fishing with my parents. In the last few years, an added perk of these travels has been the decision to treat myself to a convertible for my rental car now and then. Twice now I've had the pleasure of my rental being a Ford Mustang V6 convertible, and the experience has been fun enough to warrant this picture being made in commemoration.

I've certainly fallen in love with the Mustang a bit, and I can't think of many better places to drive a convertible than the Overseas Highway that connects the keys by a series of bridges. It has to be said; driving a proper American muscle car down the Seven Mile Bridge on a beautiful day with the top down, classic rock playing, and the wind in my floof is a box on my life's 'to do' list that I'm very pleased to have ticked more than once!

Cars are quite tricky for me to draw, so I used one of my own photographs of the car to help me trace some of the lines and get the picture started. My rental didn't have the blue racing stripes, but should I ever own a Mustang I'd be sure to have those added!
