Profile

I represent a concept. Like any idea, I am ever evolving, growing, and learning, self-aware chaos. I call myself by many names. Composer, Musician, Philosopher, Wanderer, Adventurer... but these are all a charade. I am a man behind a computer who dabbles in the aforementioned trades in his own little universe. So far my life could, and has been, summed up as wasted potential. Sometimes I like to think that I'm an adjective person.

I'll write up a better description at some point, but for now I'll leave it as is.

Latest Journal

Ideas, plans, and the future!

"Wheeeeeeeeeeee... This may only be my second weasyl journal, and I still may only be typing to myself, but as a band we feel that this is necessary 'because whatever.' The whole point of this specific journal entry is to detail some of the ideas that were floating around in our heads, and to lay down their foundation should we then choose to carry them out.

[Music Update:]

The first three songs that we plan on recording are our League of Legends-related pieces, which as stated before, are for Caitlyn, Riven, and Shyvana. I'd like to say that these are 'almost done,' when in reality they probably aren't. These songs are meant to be a test, our introductions to varying genres of music. Everything that goes into and inevitably comes from these songs has been a major learning experience.

Caitlyn is definitely Damian's baby and our most experimental song. I don't even know how to begin describing it. As a result, it needs the most work out of them all as I am not satisfied with the drum line (or lack thereof). Completely missing the bass line as well as a verse doesn't help much, either. Once that has been sorted out, I honestly feel like this is going to be one awesome song. Boom, headshot.

Riven is a classical guitar piece themed around a deliberately slow introduction that builds into something much more varied and complex. It has a part that is played out in 5/8 which is a lot of fun. Classical guitar looks really fun to play, and I know Damian has said that he definitely plans on working with the instrument in the future.

Shyvana. A metal song that is short and sweet. I think it's a total killer and really emphasizes some of what I'm about when it comes to the genre of music I'm known for amongst my friends and associates. Double kick drum is love, especially when used to proper effect and I'd like to believe that I have managed that."

[Concept Update, stepping away from the character for a moment:]

Since the project is currently titled "DJS Music Project" pending further name change I've decided to separate the D, J, and S into actual characters rather than be known as 'that one guy who writes for, and plays, every instrument' even if that's what I am. Think of it Gorillaz-style. They are only two musicians, but they have created a universe for the characters in their fictional band.

I've always dreamed of doing something like that. So on the cusp of my 'noise' being put up on the internet I decided that I might as well take the time to start this process.

(D)amian. The guitarist.

(J)ames. The bassist.

(S)ylas. The drummer. [Hey! That's me!]

Should I choose to write anything further about these characters it will involve explaining their lore and how if at all they relate to me as a person in growth and unity. I have a friend willing to help me with art for them, hopefully, as well as some really silly/cute things in mind for them. Anything written within quotation marks can be considered from one of the characters involved, for example this entire journal is written from the perspective of Sylas. [Ow, this fourth wall stuff hurts my head.]

"It will most definitely end up as a series on YouTube. I feel that is where we have the best chance of getting noticed... Which is something that creates an odd paradox and as such results in conflict within the band. But that's a story for another time. Perhaps.

I enjoy writing out my thoughts either as these bulky journals, or as shorter details via twitter. It's a very cathartic experience. Whether or not anything becomes of this project, or if anyone reads this, I feel it certainly helps me as a person when I need it most. Which is odd. I suppose. Is it?"
