The Collector Meets The Little Magician by DHVinci

The Collector Meets The Little Magician

DHVinci

So yeah, I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the collector in the show Owl House and wanted him to meet my character Kaycen Phox, aka Zenny, also known as the little Magician. Enjoy!

The collector belongs to Owl House
Zenny is mine!

----------

Zenny floats around a void-like space surrounded by green cosmic bubbles, cubes, and a lake that seemed to stretch endlessly into nowhere. He rubbed his eyes, believing to be dreaming when he saw wrecked ships along the water, small cliffs and hills with bite marks taken out of them, and a very large and strange sphere floating in the distance.

“What kinda place is this?” Zenny sat crossed-legged with a hand under his chin while casually summer saluting through the air. “Did I make another wrong turn at Albuquerque again? I told Zenith we shoulda fix his portal maps.” He reached behind his back and pulled out an orange orb, having it glow repeatedly while vibrating. Not a few seconds later, the signal dropped. “No signal, bleh,” he said poking his tongue out then putting his orb away.

“Hellloooo? Anybody there? Bellos? King? Come on, answer me!” Cried the voice of a child, though with a hyperactive tone of voice.

Zenny’s ear flicked and the phox swam towards the sound of the voice.

“Come on guys, I just got free! Where did you all go? What was that big bang? I didn’t do it I swear. Where are you guys?” A shadowy figure traveled along the inner circle of the sphere. Outside looked like a constellation with its own orbiting stones surrounding it. “It’s not fair! I don’t want to be alone again…”

Zenny managed to get closer and landed on a broken ship, looking up at the sphere. “Hello there? Someone in there?”

“What?! Who said that? Who’s there?!” Demanded the shadow, pressing his body to the sphere to look around. His white eyes opened as he scanned over the area.

“Down here!” Zenny waved. “Can you direct me to the nearest exit?”

The figure’s eyes found Zenny and widened as he gasped. “Huh?! Aww, you look so adorable!” He giggled. “Come closer, I’ve never seen a creature like you before. Where’d you come from?”

Zenny hopped up and swam through the air towards the shadowy figure with the voice of a child.

“That is a very good question. I think it’s like the age-old riddle of who came first, the chicken or the egg, no one really knows.” He replied.

The figure expanded its one eye to take up half of the sphere’s circumference. “Woah, I knew it. You’ll like one of those talking animals, aren’t you? That’s so cool. Hey, do you know king? He talks too, but you can barely see his mouth opening. It’s pretty funny.”

Zenny sat crossed-legged again and giggled. “That is pretty cool. Wait, like this?” He asked, pulling out a pencil from his back and erased his mouth in front of the figure’s eyes. “Does he talk like this and it’s not telepathy?” Zenny asked.

The large eyeball reverted to two and the circular pupils became stars of admiration instead. “That’s so cool! How’d you do that?!” He asked, eager to know before he shook his head and came back to his senses. “Hey, you wanna play with me? I can’t find the universe King was in, so it’s gotten really quiet here. There’re so many games I wanna play.”

“You wanna play here? Where are we?” Zenny asked, looking around again.

The shadow turned into a child-like figure but flattened against his prison. “I don’t know exactly. I was placed here by a large bully when all I wanted to do was play some games. But this is definitely a prison. There’s nothing to do here and it doesn’t even provide,” he paused as he morphed his shadow hand into a bull horn. “An echo!” He said loudly.

Zenny marfed and covered his ears as the sound traveled, and to prove his point, no echo was heard. There wasn’t even a ripple in the strange water below.

“See? It’s so boring here and now my ex-best friend and my friend-to-be are nowhere to be found.” To illustrate his point, he made shadow puppets showing Bellos turning into a monster than turning into a paste. Following that he showed King playfully waving his hands before a bright light turned him to dust.

Zenny blinked, not expecting the illustrations to be so chilling. “Aw, I’m sorry to hear about your friends.”

“Oh, don’t worry. That happened years ago, I’m not upset. But hey, no more worrying about that. Wanna be friends? We can play together forever, it’ll be great! You can stay here for me and show me that neat trick you did with taking off your mouth.” He laughed.

Zenny rubbed his chin. “I don’t think I’ll be able to stay here forever just to play.”

This caused the figure to worry, and his eyes changed to large puppy ones with his hands folded. “Pleaseeee,” he begged.

“Wait, I didn’t mean that I wouldn’t play with you or be friends. I just meant that I’d rather go home to play with new friends instead of in this place.”

“Oh? You’d take me home to you? To your place? Really?!” The shadow figure cheered as he zoomed around the inside of his prison. “I haven’t been freed in years!” He laughed. “This is gonna be so amazing.”

“I don’t think I caught your name,” Zenny said as he stood up in the air and bowed. “I’m Kaycen, aka the Little Magician, at your service. But my friends call me Zenny.” Zenny flicked his wrist, summoning a business card, and casually pushed it into the sphere.

The figure inside was completely stunned as he watched the card come into his prison and fall to the bottom. This caused the creature to give a massive grin on his face. So much so that it covered the entire sphere. “We are gonna have a blast! I’m the Collector! I… huh I don’t have three names as you do. Maybe you can give me some!”

“Ah, ah, I have three conditions first,” Zenny said surprisingly, to which the shadow kid figure reappeared to listen intently.

“Firstly, when I get you out of there, you have to behave when we meet other people. Not everyone’s gonna be able to play games like we can.”
The Collector nodded at the first one. “Easy!” He proclaimed with a smile.

“Second, if you’re going to come with me to my home, you have to do anything I say from now on. It’s always important to make a good first impression. Especially when meeting new people.”
The Collector folded his arms, closed his eyes, and nodded in agreement like he understood despite not having any experience with that exactly.

“And last but most importantly...” Zenny paused to make sure Collector was listening. The shadow’s eyes widened, waiting in anticipation. “You have to agree to be my good friend now and forever,” Zenny said with an equally big smile.
The shadow eyes glowed as if witnessing something amazing and he eagerly accepted. “I pinky swear!” He said showing and holding his pinky out to Zenny.
Zenny’s eyes glowed with the same semblance of joy, not having many people to pinky swear with him. Zenny held out his pinky and touched the Collector’s.

On contact, a glow appeared under Zenny’s paws, showing a glyph of the Collector’s face as well as astral symbols of the moon, stars, and constellations surrounding the center. Zenny went along with it, believing this was how it worked. He lightly tugged his hand, showing a person’s hand come out of the sphere. Zenny pulled firmly and completely pulled the Collector out of his prison in a large flash of light.

Zenny shielded his eyes with a welding face mask he summoned out of nowhere. When the light subsided, he removed it from his face. The little Phox watched the light shrink to fit the form of a young boy whose attire befitted a mix of robs and pajamas, an old fashion nap cap, and fuzzy-looking shoes all centered around the theme of the moon and stars with an overall purple color. Half of his face seemed purple in the shape of a crescent moon against his normal tan-colored body. If nothing else stood out, it was his white hair, yellow eyes, and glowing red iris.

“I’m free!!!” The Collector cheered loudly with his arms out wide. “Thank you Zenny!” He spoke.

Zenny’s eyes turned to literal stars in admiration. “You look so cool! I love your hat.”

The Collector chuckled. “And I love your tail!” The two floated closer to each other and examined each other’s features. While the Collector tugged Zenny’s facial fox fur and booped his nose, Zenny played with the Collector’s ears and booped his nose.

The two shared a laugh and the Collector floated around. “Come on, let’s play a game!” He said as he eagerly looked around and saw a few cliffs nearby. He raised his hand to move the cliffs but… they didn’t move. The Collector looked at his hand then back at the object and raised his hand again… still nothing.

“Ahh man! My powers don’t work in this place,” the Collector pouted.

“Really? Must be like this thing,” Zenny said tapping the sphere the Collector escaped from. “I’m sure once we get out of here, they’ll come back. But until then…”

Zenny disappeared and reappeared on the broken ship. To the Collector’s delight and fascination, Zenny zapped the ship, hovering it up in the air and slowly repaired it out of nothing. The gaps in the ship were restored, the mold and bacteria vanished, the entire starboard appeared from thin air, and the ship floated on the water with Zenny wearing a pirate hat. “Come, Co-captain, we be sailing to the far ends of this world and onto the next!”
