Sketch for Vernum of FA, who is doing a little bit of yoga but can't quite nail the pose. He's doing the best he can, though! Hopefully he doesn't tip over -- use that tail!
Toying around with the idea of sketch commissions a bit more, found a direction I may want to take them. I might do one or two other images, test the waters on this. I like the look, think it makes a simple graphite lineart sketch a little bit more engaging.
Enjoy.
I've taken up Yoga as part of my list of 2015 resolutions. I tried to do the actual pose -- the right hand is correct, but the left hand and that raised foot are supposed to meet, and the hand holds the foot in place. I could not, for the life of me, match the pose. And thus, a reference image was born.
And then I fell over.
Hopefully you fell into some pillows! :)
It's a good goal to make for 2015...I hope you're able to keep up with it!
I love how you handled all of the foreshortening in this (and there is a lot of it!). It's great to see artists really push the envelope when it comes to dynamic anatomy and form.
That's one of the big things I'm working to fix right now. I received a helpful critique a short while back that talks about how a lot of my work is like a "window", like a flat pane of glass, and my images are always pushed up against it. That I seem to struggle with truly sculpting my characters. So I'm glad to hear that. I know it still have a few points that are doing that, but baby steps. Some day I'll be rid of it!
Thank you kindly. <3
