Step 1, receive awesome critique from stigmata.
Step 2, do a few studies, then decide you should probably re-do that tengu.
Step 3, try harder.
Step 4, return to step 3.
Decided to give the tengu another shot. I foolishly realized too late that the pose was a bit similar to Anodyne, so that's something I need to be even more aware of. And now, time to do even more studies. Never stop studies.
This is roughly just under 3 hours, Alchemy + Photoshop. (I don't normally share times, but for those parties interested in estimates for commissions, I'll put them on a few.) Critiques welcome. Hopefully it looks like he's wearing proper leather now! And is more interesting to look at.

I think I was going more for magic orb, and probably should have emphasized that in some way. It didn't occur to me until very late in the time I set aside that I should resolve it, and I think it's not quite there yet.
BUT, if my little Tengu Rogue dies, I'm going to roll up a Tengu Dodgeballer just for you, and will pelt skeleton nerds and evil geeks for the rest of time.

Looks really cool to me! I like the rough look. I'm guessing the sphere he's holding is either an important magic relic that he needs on his quest, or a dodgeball to pelt some nerds. Nice work, it is very interesting to look at.
