Art Trade - Dark Moon Sona

delusionalpuffball

My part of an Art trade with someone on DA :veryhappy:

I had a difficult time scanning this piece. I dont know if it was the lead I used or my dinosaur scanner itself lol, but it would highlight my darkest areas and ruin the overall image. I might do another edit to it to fix some parts XD
This piece was fairly tiny compared to the other 2 full illustrations, so some details were sacrificed asdfgh

    Awesome as always :D

Wow, very nice! Do you mind a small critique?

      Thank you! :D
certainly! There were issues with scanning, so if you spot anything I can tweak, let me know :D I've stared at this piece too long xD

This is more about the work overall and your focus. If you wanted the dragon to be camouflaged and hard to see then it is fine. If I were doing this I would have done more highlighting on the dragon and made it stand out a bit more from the background. The over all look is very natural and I love the details, just personaly wish the dragon stood ut a bit more. :)

This is actually a really good suggestion. This drawing is already amazing, but adding that extra bit of separation might create a centerpiece which would also help complement the background/foreground. :)

I agree, now that I've taken some time away from it, I see how the character blends in a lil too much. I thought I was abusing them highlights this time around lol xD

Ah yes, I see what you mean. The character was all black, kind of like spandex, but I think some more highlights would've worked :D I was actually torn between doing the forest a bit lighter and character darker, and the forest darker, but character lighter.

          this was the character:

with that character reference, I think I would make him more black/darker and give him strong white highlights that would make him a bit shinny looking...but again, that is me. He would stand out from the background either way (lighter or darker). I would not mess with that background.

Im going to try to fix it a bit more if I can, thank you!
The scanner really doesnt do it justice, honestly xD

Wow. Absolutely in love with this piece.

Scanners never, ever do it justice. :P

      Thank you! <3
Omg, it's a struggle with scanners, and an even bigger struggle taking a good picture without light reflection. Graphite is a troll xD

I know this problem well, have you tried taking pictures outside in good sunlight?

I havent yet. It's been cloudy most of the week. Darn weather knows xD
