Almost all bees are female, it's rare to actually see a male bee still alive. After they mate with a queen during a mating flight, they fall to the ground dead soon after. The ones you see mostly are workers and drones, the queen rarely, if ever, leaves the hive after she begins laying eggs..
Thanks for the correction, I have always loved all bees, and I knew that was what honey bees did, didn't realize that it applies to all Apidae families. :D
