The Passage by Dawnchapel

The Passage

Dawnchapel

The thing that Barnaby liked best about these ruins wasn't how the light shone on the doorway at dawn or at dusk - not that it wasn't a magnificent sight at the right time of day - but that the doorway was still functional. There was no door in it, but if you closed your eyes for a moment, and allowed yourself a certain state of mind (what the Venturists would sometimes describe as being Curious), and then stepped through, you would find yourself on the other side. And it was not the same other side that you would be on if you'd just walked around the door, either.

It was one of those special gateways, that those who practiced the art of Ventury delighted in finding, that would allow those who were possessed of that special quality of Curiosity to pass from one world to another, and sometimes even back again.

And, for the moment, it was known to nobody other than Barnaby, or so he supposed.

I don't think I commented on the FA upload, but I love the outcome of this SO much.

Ruins? Doorways to other worlds? Those are the makings of a great and epic story.
