NAME: The Qualm
CIVILIAN NAME: Matthias Whiteleaf

PRESENTATION: Uses eagle affiliate in the field, directing through earpiece. Wears a simple mask in person. Projects strength and vigor in private, but meekness and frailty in public.

BIRTHPLACE: Sutton, United Kingdom.

OCCUPATION: Retired British Intelligence, Adjunct Professor University of Telorant, Philosophy and Ethics
HISTORY: After Matthias served the SIS  During World War 2, He saw the critical junction of what unfettered egos and  oppressive businesses did to people as a whole. He vowed to become the  Superego of society and right the world so it would never tolerate regression nor stagnation ever again. And thus, the  Facilitators were founded. In his old age, he's gotten to hiring an assistant to represent him out in the field, as often his job can involve some occupational hazards. The Eagle, Walter Barsad, was recruited at a very young age and while on duty, makes it a point to speak exactly as the Qualm would. It is unclear if the Qualm plans for him to inherit the position of the Qualm.

The Qualm was one of the founding members of the Facilitators. Now he's starting to see his vision be put at risk with the march of time coming for him, the last living original founder. He would eventually recruit Darkwitt as one of the youngest members they've ever had in their ranks. Something that is met with much criticism by the other facilitators.

The first time I met him, he appeared as an old professor, far past his prime. Clinging to aspiring dreams he could never achieve in youth. But once the doors closed, I was met with a presence that far eclipsed my own. A man who was willing to do anything to accomplish his goals. and likely had. It was like living your whole proudly existing as a candle in a cave, only to be dragged out and forced to stare at the sun.

He believes the best form of evolution is dependent on a level of Altruism baked into the framework of society as a whole. Rather than the exclusive focus of the limited mortality of the individual, it's evolution of the collective he believes we should aspire to work for. That those in power should exist to elevate the world around them, rather than take pieces of it to claim for their short lives. 

Something I think he's starting to realize is hypocritical now that he's getting older and he still clings to his position. Maybe that's why he recruited me. Or maybe he has something planned that's beyond my understanding. It's hard to say.
