Rakodian Species (Winged Versions) (CLOSED SPECIES)

DarkusTheFirst

Just some basic information on these guys, they are mammals capable of having the fur colors of any natural mammal, with the most common being those of rodents.

Originally based off a creation of mine in Spore, they've since evolved to what they are today. Fluffy, Draconian, Mouse, things with a really pointy tail.

(Left one is female, Right is male)

Primary differences between males and females are height (males are taller), horns (Only females have a to-tipped horn), and whether or not they have feathers (Typically only females have feathers).

While most of them is indeed soft and no stronger than a dog or cats skin, they have a boney protrusion on their foreheads that helps render many head on attacks harmless.

Their tail blade or spike is made of a similar bony material that contentiously grows, similar to a nail it needs to be shortened from time to time. Given the use of their tail, the blade or spike sometimes can break, while this can be discomforting, unless the end of their tail is damaged, it doesn't cause any direct pain.

Another important fact is that all varieties of Rakodians have a very powerful sense of hearing, enough so that almost all have limited vision, regardless of their subtype. Handling a Rakodians ears is also one of the easiest ways to anger one, as their ears tend to be very sensitive due to constant use. This can be one of the more pleasant things for a Rakodian with someone they trust however, since it is a very pleasant sensation for them. It can however leave them incapacitated, thus the typically violent reaction if they suspect anyone plans to so much as touch their ears. Typically with biting.

On the subject of biting, Rakodians have a jaw-set similar to that of a shark, tons of razor-sharp teeth with a near limitless supply ready to replace those that are lost or damaged while eating, hunting, or otherwise tearing someones face off.

They also have two abilities that develop as they age or practice, the ability to lift and move objects with their mind for very limited amounts of time, and the ability to communicate to every other living Rakodian telepathically if they so desire.

They also can inherit magical powers from either parent and sometimes both. But unless they practice specific abilities, they will eventually loose them.

There are a few general subspecies of them, containing different traits seen in the two above.

Aquatic: There are a number that are adapted to living most of their lives in the water, these Rakodians usually have the 'fins' near their legs and close to the end of their tails. Those that have magical gifts from this subset tend to be related to water, ice, and earth.

Tundra: These Rakodians have much thicker fur than pictured by the two above. They have the best eyesight out of any kind of Rakodian, since the fur on and around their ears can distort anything they hear. That being said, they rely far more on smell. Those among them that have magical gifts tend towards ice, wind, and fire.

Dessert/Tropical: These Rakodians are the most likely to have wings, as gliding and hunting from above is far easier in warmer environments than most others. Those without wings typically hunt by burying themselves at least partially in the sand, then springing out to kill whatever it is they are hunting. They tend towards light, fire, and healing magics.

Underground: These Rakodians are essentially blind, and many actually are. They rely solely on their hearing to navigate, and they respond most violently to anyone messing with their ears, and have been known to stab those that do mess with their ears through the eye, typically aiming for a instant kill by destroying the transgressor's brain. These Rakodians tend towards sound, shadow, and earth based magic.

As an additional note, Rakodians ARE intelligent, have their own forms of society depending on setting. They love to tinker and invent new things, and generally are willing to work with any other sentient species, with the prime exception being most humans. Rakodians have a near cultural hatred for humans, and while they may not actively try to kill them, they will rarely be kind to any human at first. Should one prove trustworthy (And not a total asshole), as a species Rakodians could come to not despise that specific human. It is however extremely rare.

Rakodians belong to me, and are currently a closed species. Ask if you want one, and if I like the idea you pitch, I likely will allow it.
