When I heard of deviantart group cetamonthlychallenge's "nightfall" contest this morbid, depressing image popped in my head almost immediately.

I hope the beach looks sort of like a beach... I half like the background and half hate it... I'm not exactly sure how I feel about how I did drawing the beached striped dolphin, maybe about the same as I feel about the background but I don't know... :P

_{Sometimes cetaceans mass-strand, but not always. This striped dolphin is alone... and dolphins seem to instinctively dislike being alone, especially ones like striped dolphins, schooling species I think they're called... This striped dolphin became too weak to keep swimming properly, and had no one willing to assist him/her very much, nevermind strand alongside him/her... The increasingly weakening striped dolphin feared that soon he/she might be unable to surface properly to breath, and accidentally drown, so he/she stranded him/herself to rest... knowing that he/she might die on this beach, but not as quick as he/she might in the ocean... There was a chance that he/she might survive this and eventually return to the ocean alive, and then maybe life would improve for him/her, at least a little...}

...LOL, THAT IS SO MELODRAMATIC... HOPEFULLY AT LEAST SLIGHTLY MORE REALISTIC THAN UNREALISTIC, BUT I'M NOT EVEN SURE...
...WHY AM I STILL TYPING IN CAPS LOCK...?

Anyway... I just drew this for the hell of it... because for some reason I actually wanted to draw this morbid, depressing thing for its own sake... because I guess I'm somewhat intrigued by things like this, at least sometimes...? This contest needed at least a couple more entries, anyway, and probably still needs at least one more person to enter... ^^;
