I drew this 'cause the last time (and also the first time I'm quite sure), the other day, I drew him with a bottlenose dolphin with her beak stuck in his back since in real life dolphins wear sponges on their snouts for protection, like a glove, while digging up fish hiding in the sand.

But I felt kind of mean for drawing him scared, so I also drew this, 'cause I find these two really adorable together. Most people seem to prefer to ship SpongeBob and Sandy. And of course there's nothing wrong with that, that's pretty cute too. But I like the idea of these two together like this just as much, maybe even more, 'cause they're just so attached to each other and affectionate with each other and seem to have more in common than they don't and so on. I suspect that at least part of the reason pairing these two as more than just friends seems unpopular is probably 'cause of homophobia. Incidentally, although since the creators of the show say SpongeBob and other characters in the show are somewhat asexual, why do people always seem to argue about whether SpongeBob's also somewhat straight or gay but no one ever seems to have suggested he might be somewhat pans (and maybe Pat too)? It seems quite possible to me... But anyhow, now I'll have to bury this and my other SpongeBob pic in nature photography soon...
