It's these moments that I'd love to write and have happen between my growing cast of characters. In a series that can get pretty dark and brutal, you need these moments of levity to space out the unrelenting narrative to give both characters and readers a chance to relax and just enjoy the moment. It gives rare character building beats where you can learn more about each one without being bombarded or propelled by plot. Some might call them 'filler' chapters, but they are essential to getting readers to connect with characters and make what happens to them all the more impactful going forward. You want to see these characters succeed and have good things happen to them. Here is a rare moment of respite between this group, happening at an undetermined moment in time during my book series.
