I had an idea for an early part in Taylor's story to have her be in a town out in the desert, covered in a wool cloak and exploring the town market. Similar in nature to Jasmine from Aladdin where she hide her identity so she could go out and see what the town life was really like. So the inspiration for the background and overall theme of the city was from that sort of culture. I feel it worked well here and it was a great place to start her story since it is already in an exotic locale that most people haven't visited themselves. As you can see, Ahya is very much liking the market and wants a few morsels to munch on herself, but Taylor's gotta pay for them first, right?
