about the Tengu:

Inhabiting a huge cedar tree, the Tengu spend their lives riding and training birds and other animals as mounts and perfecting combat. their thatched primitive huts are a marriage of Polynesian traditional homes and Japanese pagodas, utilizing cedar cone seeds as shingles for their rooftops. their worst adversaries are large grubs, giant moths, and bird-eating spiders, which tend to either attack their tree or them in their homes due to being attracted to the light and smell of resin. Small with leathery bark-like skin, pointed ears, and noseless faces with large eyes, they have to wear masks with narrow slits for eyes to protect against glare when flying and also to intimidate anything theyre engaged with. Tengu tend to utilize mob mentality, swarming adversaries or using sniping techniques to get the drop on them using their all-too-familiar surroundings. due to being in communication with nature your average Tengu is like a gnome or elf, able to intune and control much of their natural environment. However, their dress and homes leave them vulnerable to fire, which they tend to use only in controlled situations like cooking. Typically they use bio-luminescent creatures and fungi to see otherwise. Typically they tend to be wiry with large hands and feet, which are unusually dry and tough for scaling surfaces (they only wear geta to strengthen their ankles and legs while fencing)

archers are exceptionally good at their trade, and tend to bind the bow to their feet so as to avoid dropping it when firing
