So this was a fun experimental piece!
This piece features 6 endangered species of hummingbird native to South America. Hummingbirds are vulnerable to habitat loss, and their declining numbers leaves a void where once was vibrant energy and color. Featured here are a Scissor-Tailed Hummingbird, Long-Tailed Woodnymph, Marvellous Spatuletail, Juan Fernandez Firecrown, Purple-Backed Sunbeam, and Bronzy Hermit.
The hummingbirds and map were all felted, with corresponding marks on the map to match the gem eyes of the hummingbirds marking where they reside. They are all mounted inside of a hanging cigar box lined with red velvet- a suitable safebox for any jewel.
