Taken on Hilton Head Island during low tide. There's quite a drastic difference between high and low tides on this beach due to it's very flat shore line, and the entire thing is speckled with these crustacean/worm mounds.

It's amazing how much life is right on the shore line when it's not covered in people. Strolling along the water's edge at night with a red light, I ran into so many crabs and my feet were bombarded with tiny fish and other small animals.
