There are few activities a wife enjoys more than giving a good curtain-lecture. And nothing a husband enjoys more than shutting her up to get some sleep.

As we head into the home stretch, I relearn how moist brand new ink pens are, but the new erasers are working out better than I'd hoped.

curtain-lecture, n. A nagging, scolding lecture given by a wife to her husband after they've retired for the night and meant specifically to bum him out so he can't sleep.

"A knowing wife, if she is worth her salt, / Can always prove her husband is at fault."
