Hyper Indoor Lacrosse League - MONSTER MARSH CRUNCH

Besides the Zephyr Bay Boomerangs, the first team I imagined up for this league is this rival team for the Boomerangs, the Monster Marsh Crunch. In the early years, when I was developing more ideas for the league and the world of Barrage Boxley, I thought about the Boomerangs having a rival team. With the Boomerangs being a team of Kangaroos, Barrage's species, I thought it'd be fitting to have his rival team be of a species in the same geographical area, Australia. I decided on the rival team being a bask of crocodiles. With the AHL being a source for inspiration for a lot of my ideas, the team's nickname, "Crunch" was easily chosen as the team's nickname, but coming up with the name of the location the Crunch play in took a while! (Thanks, art block.)

The town's name, "Monster Marsh" is a reference to the name of Bobby Pickett's song, "Monster Mash". The town itself is like that of a hillbilly town. What Monster Marsh is known for, however, is a legend about a mysterious creature lurking in the town's wetlands, hence the name, "Monster Marsh".

The legendary creature is depicted on the Crunch's primary logo, breaking a lacrosse stick on its head while biting down on a wooden sign saying "CRUNCH". Behind the creature is a purple and lime-green semicircle with "MONSTER MARSH" going around the thick purple edge above the monster.

This primary logo was inspired by a variation of one of the Syracuse Crunch logos, the one with Al the Ice Gorilla, that got rejected by the AHL. According to the creator of Al, Joe Orsak, Al was originally meant to have the word, "CRUNCH" in his mouth while breaking a hockey stick on his head, just like what the monster in this logo's doing. The league did not approve of it because they viewed it as "too violent". Instead of going back to Orsak for revisions, the logo was sent to a jersey manufacturer in Montreal for revision, which came up with the logo the Syracuse Crunch got.

The secondary logo is made up of two wooden letter 'M's, one overlapping the upper left hand corner of the other, and a lacrosse stick sitting on top of both 'M's.

The Crunch mascot is named "Snap".

The ownership group's name, Greene & Slymee Inc, is, of course, a pun on "green and slimy".

Representing the Warrior Conference, the Crunch play at Teraburger Arena. Teraburger is a fast food chain known for its really large burgers. Much like how "tera" is a prefix used in the metric system to describe measurements, larger than giga and mega, the restaurant chain uses "Tera" in its name to describe their enormous burgers.
