How do you add shading when you only have one layer? is amazed

I just draw a darker shade of the coat color in an area where I think is shaded! It's not hard! :D

giggles I know how shading works. :) I just don't understand how you add shading without messing up your lines. MS Paint does have only one layer, right? Wouldn't it be difficult to not color over the lines?

I don't use the paint tool, I use the pencil tool and curve tool, that's how I don't mess up the lies. To keep it neat, I use the paint bucket tool! :D
