Me and DragonWolfACe were enjoying a sunny at the local park, when out of nowhere we spotted something unusual fluttering about. It was chasing a group of gnats that were buzzing the pond's edge.
At first, I thought it could of be a cliff or chimney swallow. But as we watched further, we finally saw it was a bat. A Big Brown Bat (Eptesicus fuscus) to be exact.
He fluttered around the pond's edge for some quite a while. After his eating, he did really cool touch and goes as he scooped up water to drink. He took a few swallows and then clung up on the side of a tree trunk.
He stretched one wing at a time and then tucked himself in for a sun bath.
It was a truly cool experience for us both. Getting to watch how a bat eats and drinks. And then enjoying itself in the sunshine. Very Cool indeed. :)
