The coat is for, if he needs to, wrap a child in it, for reasons to keep them safe, goggles are for seeing in the dark and protecting his eyes from debris, other than that I think it's just his fashion sense, he's got his skintight black outfit, he's got his puffy red jacket, he's got his collar from his Chisuke, love of his life, etc. etc.

Kotohina chose the name specifically because hopefully bring safety feels and he's a search and rescue doggo
