The Piety of Others

CorpseWyrm

"It is rash to intrude on the piety of others; both the depth and the grace of it elude the stranger."

I don't draw often. I draw humans even less often. Regardless, this is one of the few pictures of mine I actively like.

In Drinn, slaves are given virtues as names, so that their owners are able to say, "I own Courage," or "I am the master of Temperance." The finer the slave, the grander the virtue, or at least that is the hope. It is both symbolic, and a bit superstitious.

This is Piety, the favorite ward and servant of Lord General Nikodemus. It should go without saying that piety is a great virtue to have sway over when one is the ruler of a land, and so it is a name reserved only for use by the Divine King of Drinn.

The Lord General overthrew the Divine King, and decided to use that privilege as a spit in the face to the previous regime. However, it so happened that Piety was very aptly named, being the model thereof.

Isthaea, and thus the kingdom of Drinn, and all related miscellanea (c) me.
