Samaya, the otteress pilot, pauses during the rare calm moment for a photo. A war veteran as young as 20, she grew up during the worst years of interstellar conflict against a genocidal race of aliens dedicated to wiping out her kind. Her body bears the scars of this conflict; half of her torso has been replaced by bionics after a collision with an enemy fighter nearly resulted in her death.

Some times she's a little hard on herself, and she knows this. She does not understand why she survived when so many of her comrades have not, and on some nights it really eats at her. Thankfully there are people in her life now that serve to bolster her spirits; particularly her protege, a young monkey named Alma (one of my players). Perhaps given time, she will once again get back to living for herself, but as it is, she is a shadow of the happy-go-lucky person she used to be. The war has done that to her.
