Yep They are based off of the Makara's of Homestuck in Coloration theme. Also they can willingly make words appear and disappear all over their bodies as well as punctuations, emotes, and symbols. They are literally a book turned into a living breathing animal using a Canid base.

Their blood and tears change color depending on the "Ink" Colour. since their blood is made of Ink their tears are a watered down verision of their blood color.
