FA, Rape, Lies, Etc.

I've decided to post my thoughts about these events here, as it seems to now be a bannable offense on FA. People are supposedly being banned for even hinting about what is going on, while the offender is free to post about in as much detail as he wishes. I suppose I may be banned for posting about it here, but I'm not going to worry about it too much. It will only prove, and further document, the pettiness and rule breaking that goes on in regard to FA's administration.

I've thought a lot about what I'd like to say on the matter. I am well aware that few will read this, but I like being able to have the freedom to at least put my feelings and beliefs out there in a public setting, without having to hide them, especially when they are just and true.

It is my belief that the accusations are true. From my understanding, FA notes regarding the incident, which were originally housed on "YiffyLeaks" (before it was sent a Cease and Desist order) point to this being known and admitted by both the offender and FA administration. Posts to Twitter were also made to the effect of it 'being the victim's fault.' Considering my original position that the FA administration has previously lied and stolen, a position formed based upon personal dealings with said administration going back several years, it is not a stretch for me to believe that this is the case. I feel this makes the administration a sort of "accomplice" in these matters. It is quite upsetting, but not surprising.

On one hand, I had wanted to completely stay out of these matters, but I find it difficult to do that in full capacity. I feel the need to say something. By the same token, I feel that the situation is a very frustrating one to be involved with. The choices made by all parties involved have had an effect on the fandom, and they have become the business of every single individual who is related to it. It paints a picture about who we are, and that picture is most grotesque. No one is innocent once they have learned of the situation. At that point, it comes down to reaction.

My own initial reaction would be to say that all those who fail to take action are also responsible, but that is not completely true. I had someone say that to me, one who no longer speaks to me, because I did not immediately choose a side. I do not wish to put anyone else in that position. Still, we do enable the wrong-doers by continuing to employ their services, and also by staying quiet. It is like telling them it is okay. It is not okay. We should not allow them to bully us into silence, either, such as how the offender likes to bully women (smaller and frailer than he, no less; this is done with intent) into gratifying his carnal urges.

I can't think of much else to say on the subject for now. Suffice it to say, I agree with those who have migrated here, and I truly hope that more people begin to do so, whether they agree with my assessment or not.

      You're welcome!

Sorry I didn't reply sooner. I haven't been paying much attention to art sites, lately, and I didn't even know I could reply to shouts until now (which is a seriously nice feature).
