So this is an older piece back from when my boyfriend was dead set on being a porcupine as a furry (he is now a polar bear)
This is the concept art for what his fur suit could possibly look like.
What makes you think hedgehog? Curious so that I can fix this if I ever get asked to draw another porcupine.
I guess it depends on what breed of porcupine you were going for. The most common porcupine that I'm thinking of is in the crested variety: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/c/c4/African\_crested\_Porcupine\_-Hystrix\_cristata-.jpg which has quills on the back of it's body and not it's whole body, but if you were drawing the Prehensile-tailed porcupine: http://www.oregonzoo.org/sites/default/files/gallery/images/H\_orig\_prehensile\_tail\_porcupine\_gal.jpg then the design you have here is closer, however the prehensile-tailed porcupine has a long talk: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/08/Coendou\_prehensilis\_2\_-\_Buffalo\_Zoo.jpg
I see a hedgehog because your design has the quills all along the back of his body. I know the face, feet, and quill shape/size aren't hedgehog like, but it's just the placement of the quills that makes me think hedgehog.
It's actually based of a North American Porcupine
http://fantasystock.deviantart.com/art/North-American-Porcupine-86658868 Which has the quills all along the body (and the shorter tail) However yeah I did the quill coloring more like the African Crested.

Very cute, but I think of a hedgehog when I see this.
