COMMISSION UPDATES: Chesh's Plan of Action

cheshirecatsmile37

TLDR version

  • I got a job
  • I’ll be working full time
  • I’ll work on my commission queue on my days off and after work
  • I’m going to finish multiple sketches before I go back to complete a sketch rather than working on one commission at a time (i.e. sketch A B C D, finish A; sketch E F G finish B, etc. until everything is sketched)

* I’ll be sending sketches out to commissioners as soon as I’m done with it to keep everyone updated

Hi, everyone!

Just wanted to update everyone on the situation.
I got a job!

I started this week so I’ve been quieter than usual (unless you follow my personal Tumblr or my Twitter, then you’ve probably seen me whining plenty)
But after this week I’m going to start full time. I honestly thought I was going to get stuck with part time hours for a few weeks before they gave me full time hours...but nah. Great for me financially! But it means that I have less time to work on commissions. I really wasn’t expecting to be put on full time so quickly.

But I wanted to let everyone know how things are going to go for a while!
I am still working on my queue! I’m not abandoning the commissions I have, I’m not not accepting new ones
I’ll definitely be working on commissions on my days off, and once I get a bit more used to the job and I’m not coming home overwhelmed and stressed out I’ll start working on things after work. Right now it’s a lot to take in at once, and I know this upcoming week is going to be especially awful...weh

Up to now my art process has been one commission at a time: sketch -> line -> color -> shade -> finish!
But since things are so backed up and sketching is the most time consuming part of my process (I would say something like 60% of the time I spend on commissions is in the sketching stage...I’m so incredibly nitpicky and slow) I thought I would go to sketching multiple commissions at a time instead.
This is not only to knock out the most painful part of the process for myself, but also to give an update to all of my commissioners in waiting. So everyone currently in my queue will be getting a sketch of their commission once I finish it!

My ideal plan is to sketch at least 3 commissions before completely finishing a commission. So there will be a lot of sketch updates with a few finished pieces in between while I catch up on my queue.
For example, I’ll sketch A, B, C and D then finish A; sketch E F G then finish B, etc.
Once I have everything in my queue sketched, I’ll go back to finishing a commission at a time. But right now I think my best plan of action is to focus on sketching everything in my queue.

So I think that’s about it!
I just wanted to keep everyone updated.
I’ll probably be sending out emails to commissioners soon to let everyone know what’s going on.

My queue is always available here!
I keep it up to date as I work so it’s always current.

Thank you all of your patience and support! <3
And making it through my huge wall of text

    Congrats on the job!
And sketching a batch and then finishing one sounds like a good work flow. I hope it works~

Thank you so much! I hope it does too. Because I can line and color/shade things pretty quickly, it's just the sketching part that really drags
