Triss continued to climb higher as the beast chased her, the Fennec Fox panicking in fear. Ahead of her was a patch of snow that was particularly loose, yet it was blended in with the other snow around it. As Triss climbed ahead, her hand suddenly fell away from the mountain, a ball of snow having come with it. She panicked as she fell backwards for a moment, barely catching herself as the beast behind her gained distance rapidly.
In getting her bearings, Triss thought of a probably futile, yet attemptable, idea. Turning, she took the snow in her hand and chucked it at the creature chasing her which, to her surprise, was accurate enough to hit the thing in its eye. The beast roared in anger, having to take a moment to shake off the snow while Triss made her getaway, now climbing around the loose snow instead of through it. Despite the triumph for now, there was still a distance to close until she reached the top, and Triss was determined to close it before she died.
After some further climbing, Triss finally found herself at the peak of the mountain. She felt a sense of peace and achievement, despite having a hostile monster closing in on her rapidly. She could hear it approaching her from behind, and the Fennec Fox turned to face her impending doom, ready to accept her fate after achieving the goal her friend so wished to achieve. The beast rose to the top of the mountain, angered from Triss’ previous antics, and immediately reared its head back to open its maw wide. Triss woke up in her bed, the sun cresting upon the horizon. Next to her in bed was a note, which was a first for her roommate. Picking it up, she read it to herself to see, “I’m home, Triss! I made it to the top!” Triss breathed a sigh of relief, glad she wasn’t actually dead, and happy to see her friend achieved the goal she reached for. Now was the time to congratulate this friend, with a day to remember that was soon to come.
