Part of Furegon, Book In progress.

The war went on for over a Decade, during this time new Dog Boys were introduced. None of the Dog Boys were ever given full biped forms, many people didn't like it when they seemed Too Human so to speak. There were a few Skupples non combative forms with a more Humanoid form, these were normally entertainers. Creatures built for movies or personal enjoyment, always with the Obedience genes enabled.

Almost no construct, Skupple or Dog Boy would ever hurt their human masters, the only ones which were known are terrible terrible cases of abuse or torture. By this time Genetic constructs were becoming very normal to see, many considering them family. A few people even passed on their fortunes to them, as some used to do with their beloved cats. Courts did not agree tho, Constructs had no rights to own property or many other rights humans took for granted.

Humans like to be in control, and when not in control they get mean selfish and cruel. The war had worn down many peoples nerves, most were just ready for an end. One of the new forms added to the battlefield were, Watch Dogs. Watch Dogs were four legged more traditionally body formed Canines, these animals had way more intelligence than allowed before in a construct.

The main goal was to make a Battle advisor for commanders, a Beta member for the pack. The Watch Dogs were keen in vision and smell, alerting their human counterpart far before most dangers or even emotional states of comrades. Watch Dogs were very close to their human master, being assigned and raised from Puppies no older than a few weeks. Meant to be a counterpart, confidant and advisor the constructs Imprinted onto their human masters. This became a permanent bond as time went on, many men would die to save their dogs, but many many more Dog Boys and Watch Dogs died saving men.

It was one of these small Watch Dogs that helped things to change, his Master the son of a military base commander. The commander had pulled some strings and gotten him the pup as a birthday present, he had always bragged about his Spencer. Spencer was his own Watch Dog, which was stern but gentle with the commanders son. Like the master that bonded them, they shared very similar feelings almost empathic.

Lifespans for constructs had been increased gradually as time went by from the original 5-7yrs all the way up to 60+ and more if purchased Gene therapy was applied. Many people of course bought themselves longer lives, this was of course only the most wealthy nations that could do such. The rest of the world was left behind for the moment, things always change in time though.

The age was increased after many Skupples deaths made many consumers avoid buying another for the loss was hard to take. The little intelligent pets were very much symbiotic in nature, always helpful and loyal, crying when the master cried and sharing in the joy.

It was the connection that grew between Man and the now common Skupples and Dog Boys, this connection was paramount for stopping the war. The small puppy Skipper having bonded with his new master Weaver, the son of a Base Commander for a Wealthy Giant of a Nation. He grew up watching the Dog Boys and soldiers take off and return, often with fewer Dog Boys and a few shaken men.

Watching the casualties, and sharing the bond that Watch Dogs have with their human masters it affected Weaver deeply. Being a child still and not having going through the intense mental and physical training of a Military soldier the animal was meant for it was almost scarring. The Watch Dog also had no training as a war dog, so it's emotions were far less controlled which presented it's self as questions to his master.

"Why do they keep sending us to die?"
"Are we Slaves?"
"Why are you killing each other?

Many many hard to answer questions such as these were asked, normally these questions were asked on deaf ears or ears not able to answer in any way effective.

Weaver was bound to Skipper and was hit deeply feeling the depths of his Dog's pain and searching. Now older and Skipper a Dog not a puppy, the two started asking questions of the Dog Boys stationed there. Most wouldn't speak their real feelings or minds, but Skipper was a Watch Dog and could read them before they spoke, it was instinct to his breed. It was what they were designed for, to be our eyes and ears for the much more unaware human partners.

Weaver learned most Dog Boys were tired and like everyone else wanted it to end, few veterans among the Dog Boy troops but they had seen the worst. It was asking these older dogs to help that started the ripple.

One dog howling alone at the death and loss of his brothers soon became a howl heard and shared across base after base. Videos posted along with stills showing Grieving Dog Boys holding a dead pack member as well as troops crying over their lost Dogs. It started a change, once the video hit the news and the Skupples and Civilian world which was kept blind as possible saw this, it was like the world stopped.

Much of the conflict was stopped in days, many many troops refusing to move. This had never been seen before, The whole chain snagged. Meetings were called discussing it and many many new problems went into lengthy debates and media circuses.

Finally the war ended, many countries ripped apart were finally able to stop and grieve. Now of course the problem was, What do we do with all these Dog Boys and constructs we made for the war.

"Do we just kill them now we don't need them?"
"Who's going to take care of them?"
"They're soldiers, they earned their peace."

Some said they should be destroyed now that the war was over, they were a useless drain. Some small nations did exactly that, video of this leaked and made another cry begin. The larger nations with a huge civilian population mostly untouched directly through war started programs to take in the now displaced Dog Boys.

It was called, the Lost Dog movement which ended up being highly successful. Many many Dog Boys were just happy to be part of a pack again, finding a home among families. Designed to be loyal and obedient, the newly adopted families soon found the new members to be extremely helpful. Many used to the mindless work of a soldiers life, found the assistance given second nature.

Some even joined their Human family at work, keeping full time jobs and contributing to the family. This was the time when many Dog Boys, with the aid of families filed for changes in the laws.

Over 40yrs later they had succeeded, Canids as they were now called were man's second hand. Both needing the other and bound through now generations of life together, the small pets which started as Skupples, now were a brother race to Humans. Symbiotic and emotionally bound, the two walked forward to the next era....SPACE.
