Amethyst Carbuncle Summon! - by Karserus & Me by Charem

Amethyst Carbuncle Summon! - by Karserus & Me

Charem

Carbuncles are long-standing support characters of the Final Fantasy-verse. Depending on the game, they're called a Summon, an Esper, a Guardian Force, an Eidolon, an Avatar, a fal'Cie...but regardless, they're always portrayed as a magically-borne creature, usually offering helpful buffs to its summoner.

In Final Fantasy 14, Carbuncles are the backbone of the Arcanist class, a summoner class. Yes, that's plural Carbuncles; while most worlds in which they appear there is usually only one, or one type, in FF14 there are many varieties of Carbuncles, all based around gems...fitting, considering what is affixed to each of their foreheads. The typical Arcanist can only use two: the Emerald Carbuncle, which is a caster; and the Topaz Carbuncle, which is a tank. But other varieties have been known to exist, including Amber, Ruby, Obsidian, and Onyx.

I'm never one to just follow along with others, though; that's simply too predictable for a ghost-dog like me! But I do love me some Carbuncles...so I spent a bit of time figuring out how to summon one that's more...personal to me. The amethyst - a purple stone of quartz - was an easy gem to relate to, and to focus my energies towards...and sure enough, I soon pulled a Amethyst Carbuncle to this plane, just as planned!

Except...my, my. It would figure that a magically-borne creature can also be affected by magical energies, being almost like a sponge as they are...and during the summoning process, they would be even more susceptible! While my ever-present ghostly energies aren't EXACTLY magical, they mingle well enough with magic, and affected my new companion along the way of his plane-travelling...to quite a striking effect!

Not only did the Carby gain some of my physical traits, but my very nature seemed to imprint on him...with him gaining a MUCH-portlier form than most Carbuncles ever manage to sport! A necessary growth though, I suppose. Without a thick belly, what room would there be for that huge second mouth, happily grinning and drooling from it? ...Yes, my voracious nature imprinted as well on my magical friend, though in a rather unique and glaringly-obvious fashion, to be sure...!

Well, my Amethyst buddy didn't seem to mind all the changes. Indeed, he quite literally RADIATED with the energy I'd accidentally given him, clearly making him more powerful than any Carby has ever been. And how he enjoyed that power! Though it was making him hungry too...wasn't it? I could tell, minds linked easily between summonee and summoner. And as that belly-tongue - still clinging to his own set of prayer beads - lapped under my chin, it was clear what meal my Carbuncle had in mind...

This was such a cooooool picture that   karserus drew! We both play FF14 together, and I actually got him into playing too. And since I adore the Carbuncles from this game, and also play Arcanist now and then... Well, Kar came up with the idea of me having my own personal Carbuncle! I liked his result a LOT. <3 So then I colored this.

Karserus played with the idea that this could also be an alternate form for me, but I more like to consider it a separate entity from me...though one obviously bearing many of my traits! Though I suppose this Carbuncle WOULD be me...if he follows through with eating me. You are what you eat, after all! >>;

Belly-maws aren't really something I've ever addressed before in vore, but they are pretty neat. I usually think they make a character look a little TOO monstrous, but it somehow fits really nice on a Carbuncle-gut. Maybe because they're magical creatures, it feels more natural to me for them to have such a trait~ :3

Might get more art of this fella if people like him a lot~ I think I'll name him...Ame, pronounced 'Ammy'. <3
