"Provider"

Pyndan.

You know I love you, but it is still too soon for me. The pain of Rial's death is still fresh in my heart, and his face still haunts my dreams.

Thank you for comforting me each night, as we cuddle together under our furs, but for now we must remain just mates.

Maybe in the future things will be different. I do not know, and Mother Sanna cannot or will not tell me.

Please, do not be sad. You are a good father, and you provide for us well, so be proud; if not of yourself then be proud of us, for our kits are strong and healthy.

I know you fear the curse of your bloodline, but surely the Goddess has forgiven your family by now?

Surely She has seen your heart, and knows it to be kind and generous? You have provided for us, and loved us, as well as anyone ever could. I know Rial would be proud of you, and rests easy knowing that you are taking care of us.

So please, come to bed, and keep me warm. For the night is cold, and I can think of other ways to ward off the chill.

Your mate,

Liska

This is 'Provider', the sequel to 'Loss' and the last of the letters I had them write to each other. This is the third and last entry I had submitted to Katmandu, the first one, 'Broken Arrow', was the only one they chose to publish.

I hope you liked reading these, as they were fun to work on.
