Regarding Carrion Diets by CecilDFritz

Regarding Carrion Diets

CecilDFritz

Just an old piece of flash fiction I wrote after pondering how how some animals might react to the eating habits of other species in an anthropomorphic society.

Personally, I was rather pleased with the end result. Your Personal Mileage may vary, of course.

Enjoy! ^v^

    This is gorgeous. I love the comedic potential found in the act of implementing anthropomorphic elements in a daily lifestyle. And you have executed such a feat delightfully.
    I could not help but find myself in the crow's character. So non-chalant and impish. hahah!

    Anyway, I am afraid I failed to understand the exact last sentence so I would kindly ask you to enlighten me.
    Maybe there was a typo involved?

    Anyway, I enjoyed this!

      Hey there! You have no idea how much I appreciate that you enjoyed this old short piece of mine! ^v^

      As in regards to the last sentence, I admit that I could have delivered the ending message with more clarity and the fault that the ending line doesn't work all that well is all on me.

      To answer your question on the meaning of the last line of this story, I wrote it with the intent of implying that The Tomcat and The Crow are the sort of fellows that remain friends and co-workers regardless of how much The Crow disturbs and tests The Tomcat's patience. The ending lines were meant to make the readers think about why The Tomcat keeps hanging out with The Crow considering what The Crow puts him through on an implied daily basis and why The Crow hangs out with The Tomcat considering The Tomcat has a temper problem.

      At the heart of the story, I'm basically saying that I think we all have That One Friend that just infuriates us most of the time with their questionable life style and often causing a scene in public. Yet at the same time, a part of us views "That One Friend" with inexplicable fondness despite their numerous flaws. And so, we keep hanging out with That One Friend for better or worse. We continue hanging out with them despite the fact we know they're just going keep giving us headaches and dragging us into what we consider utter absurdity.

      The Tomcat is disgusted by the fact that his friend and co-worker is a carrion eater and The Crow enjoys messing with The Tomcat's head over it, but they still have respect for one another. Otherwise, they wouldn't be attempting to talk the problem out...in a way. The conversation may have ended in disaster due to The Tomcat losing his cool in exasperation and the pair are banned from their favorite coffee shop, but it isn't an "ultimate end" to a friendship. The Tomcat and The Crow are still going to hang out, and they'll likely still get into fierce debate over the complicated issue of what and how certain species eat in a society of anthropomorphic animals.

      Without a doubt, the concept of friendship has always been a complicated issue for many. Of course, a friendship isn't much of a friendship if it isn't tested from time to time.

      ...I hope this makes a LITTLE SENSE, at least. ^v^;

        It makes an awful lot of sense, actually, and I cannot help but throw a smile. It was a beautiful message, and a beautiful thought. Obviously, you had a lot of passion writing this.
        The perspective of friendship you imagined can be the subject of comedy, but it is only one we all would love to have; a friendship we are stuck with, for better or for worse, despite differences. Exquisite.
