this little guy lives in a world where magic has just become a a respectable line of work, but the use of magic is regulated by the government, which is mostly non-magical.

his small community of Psychemages - mages with mastery over the mind - lived pretty peacefully until they were deemed by the government to be witches, magic-users who weren't aligned with a particular faction or university, and were therefore set an ultimatum: form an alliance, or for every last Psychemage (psychewitch) to be eradicated.

for a while, using their powers of suggestion and mind manipulation, they managed to remain hidden. their strength began to dwindle over time, however, and a group of elite war mages were sent to destroy the village in one swift attack.

weakened, and with very limited offensive firepower, the community was wiped out, save for the only two children who were not yet of age to choose an alliance - Kearan and his sister, Antonetta.

the boy's body was never recovered by the war mages, so he was presumed dead, and the sister alone was taken back to the capital, but Kear had hidden and survived!

aaand that brings us to the present day!
he and his sister are both unaware that the other survived and believe themselves to be the last of the Psychemages. their story follows them as they grow up and begin to forge their identities as the last of their kind, both in very different ways~
