Chespin's probably some sort of fruit or nut. And why would he have claws on his feet ? Does he dig underground backwards ?

Dang, a hedgehog ? I was under the impression it was a shrew or some chipmunk. Ahahaha. Now that it's been a while since I last looked at it, the colours are a bit off, but thanks for the comment too !

A hedgehog, apparently. Something to do with the japanese name IIRC. Also, this is incredibly adorable and I really like that background motif/textile-looking thing.
