An assignment from Fall 2012...

Assignment was to take a news article and create a charcoal and newsprint collage out of it. This was done around election-time, so there was an abundance of hoopla over women's rights, pregnancy, abortion, healthcare, birth control, rape, etc. Because this is a very important subject to me, I chose articles such as these to use in my collage.

For my image I decided not to illustrate a direct political standpoint for this particular discussion, but instead illustrate the topic exactly as it is; among all the discussion over what is right and wrong, who are we to decide the fate of the individuals caught in the crossfire? You know nothing of this expecting woman, her past, or what brought her to this situation, so who are we to group all pregnant women into a single bunch and assume what is best for the totality is also best for the individual?
