Stalking his prey...

That acorn, oh, the nutanimy - it's totally doomed, doooooomed! =O Hooray for anthropomorphic seeds. XD

So this is colored from a doodle I did at MFF 2008 while hanging out in the hall. I just love the expression on that squirrel's face. =3

The big problem I had with completing this one was I wanted really dynamic line widths on the inking, so I tried different methods and finally found one that involves taking a rough-inked-in-Photoshop line art and using the Live Trace feature of Illustrator to smooth out the rough edges and give an artsy feel to the inking. ^_^

Then the other bonus by using Live Trace is: Getting to use Live Paint and get nearly free coloring of the solid colors, which takes a fair amount of time if I do it manually since there's still lots of holes to fix after using the wand tool. X3

And I was originally going to flat-shade it, and then I decided to 3D shade it, and then realized it wasn't looking like I wanted so I went back to flat shading. Then I tried for yucks displaying the unfinished 3D shading clipped by the flat shading, and I really liked the effect (kinda shiny and metallic) XD. So I did some additional 3D shading and here it is.

Software used: Photoshop CS4, Illustrator CS4 Drawn on paper and inked, shaded and colored on a Wacom tablet, originally published in Sept. 2009. (Yeah... it took almost a year to get around to completing this thing! XD )
