The Twelve: The Six of Shadow by Caramel_Cassidy

The Twelve: The Six of Shadow

Caramel_Cassidy

Shortly after the Universe came to be, the beings known as The Twelve were chosen and sent by the Supreme Being many consider "God" to seed life amongst the stars. These Twelve were artists, smiths, poets, dreamers, musicians, and strategists who the Supreme Being deemed the most creative and inspiring amongst his angelic host.

As stars cooled and planets formed into sustainable masses The Twelve began seeding these worlds with the powerful beings known as The Ancients. A race themselves gifted with the ability to create life by The Twelve to help seed more worlds with all forms of varied life. In turn The Ancients were responsible for the creation of The Titans including the most recognizable here on Earth and from them sprang the countless races of Gods of myth who then went on to give life to humanity and scores of other races within the Universe.

Though not evil at first "The Six of Shadow" became corrupted and cruel as Dominion, The King of Darkness, showed his brethren that they were capable of gaining power through intimidation and fear amongst the lower species that had sprung to life. In doing so each of "The Six of Shadow" became hungry for more power and followers and took it upon themselves to torment their worshipers through fear and might.

What follows are but mere snippets of information regarding these powerful, ancient beings.

(Left to right)
Valimeya: The Queen Beast
Valimeya has become so twisted and vile that she can no longer withstand bright light in any form and only emerges to others within the cold emptiness of the night sky. She herself has ventured deep into the dark space making her home in the darkness and giving life to creatures of terrorizing horror. Long lived species such as the Maht-Teh and the Lakta Beasts are known to be her sacred children. It was by her word that the Maht-Teh were given the promise of the prophecy of the Great Queen and her holy eggsack of endless birth.

Burgonesh: The Poisoned Warrior
Those that follow Burgonesh and all species he has created are by far some of the most ruthless warriors to exist. Children born to his followers that show any sign of weakness are immediately slaughtered with unforgiving malice. The only path to glory is for those who live by his code is to fight and die a glorious death filled with the blood of ones enemies stained upon the floor and a sword in your heart. A couple of known races directly given life by his power are the K’ut Chatta, A powerful, strong humanoid reptilian warrior race and the Slyss, A manipulative, intelligent serpentine race.

Layiis: The Everwatching Harlot
No one who pledges themselves to Layiis is ever free from her sight. She has been known to descend from the sky and abduct men and women she fancies without regard. Her lust and desire for the pleasures of the flesh are legendary and are used by some cultures to scare children into behaving. Once in her possession Layiis engages in sexual fornication until the helpless mortal is sapped of all life where she then tosses the dried out husks to her hellhounds. She is considered by many cultures to be a Goddess of lust and fertility and prayed to for blessings of many children before the consummation of a marriage.

Dominion: King of the Darkness
Dominion, Legion, Lucifer, Satan, The Devil, Mephisto, Beelzebub. Just a few of the many monickers the most powerful of the Six goes by. Upon learning his sister Avalon was being worshiped and prayed to by countless followers Dominion felt a kernel of jealousy blossom within his dark heart, for he wanted that devotion, that unflinching loyalty from his own flock. To prove himself better and more deserving Dominion invited Avalon to a feast to celebrate her legacy. The feast however turned out to be a trap to ensnare his sibling and destroy her. With terrible ferocity Dominion repeatedly stabbed and beheaded Avalon, showing her lifeless remains to her followers. His plan had failed as in doing so only strengthened their allegiance to Avalon and her most devout follower Shen-Ria took on a quest to subdue Dominion and banish him to the nether realms that existed alongside our own. Dominion would eventually reshape the alternate realm into a horrifying landscape filled with endless torment and hopelessness. A realm he would call, Hell.

Cyntir: The Horned Huntress
Merciless, cold-hearted, and feared among many. Cyntir was the first to follow in Dominion's footsteps in the coveting of endless power but unlike her sibling she does not adhere to restraint or mercy or strategy. She is a being of pure primal instinct. A brutal huntress who bathes in the blood of those who have dared to oppose her. Despite her lack of mercy Cyntir has amassed quite a following of worshipers who pray to her as a Goddess of war and revenge. In some cultures Cyntir is known as the Goddess of the hunt and is offered sacrifices to ensure a bountiful hunting season. As cold and bloodthirsty as she may be Cyntir watches over her followers like a wary mother sending plagues and disease to those who would bring harm upon them.

Dexios: The Gnarled Claw
Anthros, sentient beasts, and and assortment of animal like species owe their existence to Dexios. Not nearly as intelligent, cunning, or imaginative as his siblings Dexios makes up for his shortcomings with his pure savagery. On many occasions Dexios has been seen frolicking among the feral beasts on different worlds like a playful child. One would assume his simplicity as playful innocence but should the curious venture close they would find themselves ripped to shreds at Dexios' hands. For Dexios only ever truly feels at peace and safe among beasts and base creatures. He has little regard for worship or power but follows the instruction of Cyntir with complete and total obedience. Many anthro races worship Dexios as their God of rage for only Dexios would be willing to rush headfirst into battle with such bravery and love of utter chaos.
