I've decided I'm posting the September challenge sketches out of order and arranged by subject rather than strictly chronological. Because the sketches are many and scattered. xD A lot aren't even scanned yet and buried in notebooks somewhere oops. I missed two days I want to say but at least one thing was drawn on all the rest. You'll still be able to find everything in a folder in my gallery once it's all uploaded, should you want to look through it~

wooo coyote characters! \o/ It's about time I had some! (Rook is not a coyote, despite the occasional misconception otherwise x'D) The character on the right is named Dust. I've actually had the concept of her for a while, just now got around to drawing her. Three full body drawings and one of the headshots were pose reffed from pictures from my trailcam when it was set up at our old house. Dust's design is based on a coyote who used to live nearby at our old house too. She's not super developed yet as a character though.

For the left coyote, he wasn't originally going to be a character design. The first sketch (upper lefthand corner)was just a random thing to test the pens and lining styles, then when coloring it the dark fringes on the weird neck fur ruff randomly reminded me of
this guy's crazy bullet headdress, and the design kind of went from there. :dummy: (yes I saw Mad Max: Fury Road last weekend and it was awesomeee. So many details in character designs and world and everything for such a fast paced movie. Everything felt like it had a story of its own and now that I've spent way too much time on that wiki, apparently that's true in a lot of cases xD) The look changed quite a bit from the initial attempts and was a lot of fun to mess around with for the past several days. Mainly I added lots of dark linear markings and made the teeth worse, but I also went for a brownish instead of reddish fur color. Why are bad teeth so fun to draw?? The first and latest headshots ended up conveniently right next to each other so it's easier to see how it developed. The cluster of images near the center are closest to a decided-on design I think. He's missing a toe in one of these images. Idk why, it was just a random detail that seemed maybe interesting. I wouldn't be surprised if I forget about it later though, I think I have in all subsequent drawings ahah. Some of the scars ended up looking weird but I don't know if I'd keep them all in the design anyway. And that is a bullet hole in one of his ears, because it felt like bullets needed to be implied somewhere, somehow, given the original inspiration. xD

And a third coyote at the bottom, but I haven't decided on what exactly I'm doing with her yet. I basically have two competing ideas of what to use that design for :'D That's not actually the right eye color, it was just kind of a placeholder and I forgot to change it. But that and the 9-24 one are the full body drawings that were unreferenced.
