The finalized concept art and reference sheet for my newest character and personal creature costume project: Sonar, the Dutch Angel Dragon!

The character is androgynous but most commonly referred to as female. Sonar emits high pitched sound waves, undetectable in the human hearing range, as echolocation to get a more confident sense of her environment and for increased navigation in darkness. Her personality and design is based off a black-billed magpie and she loves to mimic sounds. She is very curious and a bit of a trickster, as well as very intelligent.

I love drawing character turnarounds and creature costume design, unfortunately they all take me at least 20 hours each to complete so I've been working on finalizing this and working out a presentable format for awhile. Only thing not really shown here is her tongue- which is pink and forked.
