The hunger pangs had started earlier that morning, and had led well into Briya's workday, but, alas, she was running late. As much as her stomach told her how desperately it needed food, she'd been running late for work! And the second she'd gotten into the library, the new book supply demanded shelving and several of the other librarians had taken a sick day...

It had been as early as 9 AM when Briya had felt her shoes slip off her feet, as her metabolism took her mass and height in absence of a meal. She -had- to get some calories in her, ASAP!

By 10 AM, she had to use a stepstool to reach even the middle-most shelves, and by 11, she'd had trouble hefting any more than a single book on her own as her size trickled away!

Finally, once noon rolled around, Briya sighed with relief. Food, finally! ...She'd just have to see what she could find in the break room.

As luck would have it, someone had brought in doughnuts that morning. As more luck would have it, the break room had small stacks of books she could use to get up to the table.

And as further luck would have it, another librarian -did- eventually slip in to grab a pastry of their own, only to find a two-inch feline, broad hips settled and lounging in the frosting of a boston creme, peering up at them with wide, surprised eyes.

"O-oh, sorry. Just give me...a few more minutes? I'm...kind of on break."

And, yeah, them's the breaks when you're dealing with a size-siphoning hyper-metabolism. Briya's just happy she didn't have to scrounge for crumbs this time.
